Forgive me Reader, it's been several months since my last post

3 pics and a few hail the blogosphere and I'm forgiven... Right?

I'll admit it - I almost gave up blogging. I have however decided to give it another go. There has been a lot of things going on in my life lately, distracting me from posting on the blog, and also I've simply lacked motivation. I'm very happy to say it's slowly coming back :-)

I am thinking I might do some changes to the blog - maybe also move it to a different location. (I'll let you know.) Or maybe it will just continue it's bumpy journey much in the same way that it has done for years now. We'll see.

Anyway, I think I know what you guys like, and here is some of my latest vintage finds:

Two teak chairs with beautiful green wool upholstery, produced at Låte Møbelfabrikk, Norway. My guess is they date back to the late '50s/early '60s.

 

 This huge rug is Danish and most likely from the 1960s. This snap shot was taken with my phone in the second hand shop where it still resides (waiting to be dry cleaned before I pick it up), hence the not so great photo quality. I might post a better pic once I get it home.

I can't give you any info on this beautiful vase, I'm afraid... In fact, I hope maybe someone out there can help me. It is a medium sized vase and very heavy. If I were to guess I'd say it's either a Hadeland item or maybe from Orrefors. It could be something else entirely, of course. If you recognise it, please drop me a line.

Que sera, Sera?

It was my birthday on Friday, and my friend Maggie presented me with this lovely jug and creamer from Stavangerflint. The pattern is called Sera and is by Inger Waage. I had the serving dish from before, so now this makes a great little trio.

At yesterday’s fleamarket I did actually find a complete coffee set in this pattern, but I have decided I just haven't got room for any more... Besides, I often like mixing plain cups with vintage items as I think a full set in one pattern can sometimes be too busy and you don't notice how great the pattern actually is. What do you think?

I did also have this one little Sera egg cup from before. I it is my favorite object in this pattern. It's got to do with the simplicity of the decoration plus the fat border on the brim. I do like that detail.

Yesterday’s catch

The fleamarkets are back on again and here is what I scored yesterday: Lots of Staffordshire mugs, the white ones even came with plates to match. Note the lovely steel tray with wooden handles that they are sitting on - it’s stamped Cultura Stainless AB Silver & Stål Sweden.

I remember my mum having a set of the brown mugs when I grew up. I have come across a couple of them in various colour combos before but never so many in mint condition. Not yet decided if they’re going into my Etsy shop or not... Any takers?

I'm very pleased with these new additions to my random plates and saucers collection. The top one is by Stavangerflint. I don't have the name for the pattern or the designer. If you know, please share! The bottom one is Swedish, from Rörstrand and is called Drapé.

Latest pattern purchases

My Orla obsession never ends. I finally got my hands on a piece from her latest House collection. It was a difficult decision, but I ended up with this navy blue lidded cookie jar. I think it blends in OK with all the other jars and things.

The other house item I brought home from London this time was this cushion, bought at The London Transport Museum. I remember the days when that fabric adorned the seats of British Rail. It now adorns my lounge.

Wanted: Pernilla Ikea fabric

In 2005 Ikea launched a series of patterned fabric by designer Linda Svensson, called Pernilla. I got some of these, but I SO regret not getting this one:


I'm therefore going to try my luck and ask you readers if any one of you should happen to have some of this fabric and would be willing to part with it (name your price) or if anyone knows where I could get some. I'd be most thankful! (I'm afraid this is a shot in the dark, but I have to try...)

Friday fish II

From Figgjo Flint, two vintage dinner plates with some pretty psychedelic looking fish on them. My latest vintage scoop. They are going up on the wall eventually. Have a fun weekend.

Lagerhaus, Stockholm

I had seen some items from Lagerhaus in Swedish interior magazines before, but never actually been in their shop. Being in one was a mixed experience, as they had lots of fun stuff, but also blatantly copy other designers.




Like these lotus patterned salt and pepper shakers, for instance. Such a Cathrineholm rip-off.



And this coffee set looked nice at first glance, but it's too similar to a German 'Thomas' range, and the fact that they have named it 'Berså' is enough proof that these people have no shame.


Having said that, I couldn't resist this bedlinen... Or the flowery paper cups and plates.

My beautiful laundry

Even towels and pillowcases hung to dry can be inspirational,if you're that way inclined. Better get that machine going again. Not to mention the iron...

Mon Amie from Rörstrand

This beautiful cup and plate are new products from Rörstrand featuring a vintage pattern by Marianne Westman from the 1950s. It's called Mon Amie (My Friend). Just right for the season, I think.

Maxi dresses

My latest obsession is caused by fantastic weather - I want a maxi dress. But can I be asked to trail the shops in this heat...? I fear defeat on this mission, so I've been searching a bit online, and I quite like these:

Designers Go Playground - contemporary dollhouse and so much more

I can't believe I haven't seen this before: It was shown at the International Contemporary Furniture Fair , in New York a year ago and it's had publicity both online and in papers. Where have I been?? Thanks to Sari for requesting my friendship on facebook I found this on her web. I SO want it! I love everything about it - the clever combination of modular furniture and the über-cool dollhouse... The colours, the patterns. What's not to like, really? I can't wait to see this in the shops.
