The real thing

Life's meant to be a bowl of cherries, but I'll take strawberries over cherries any day!

Berry season

It's strawberry season, so when I found this photo amongst some 'leftovers' I thought it was a good time to post it (oh dear.. an unintended blog joke there). These cute stamps are from Sweden.

Vintage cups collection

This has been a long time coming; How to display my patterned cups, bowls and creamers in an orderly fashion. The truth is I don't really have the room for it. So I'm trying this solution now - little boxed shelves on top of a bigger kitchen shelf. Painting the box-shelves white would probably help...

Nøtte

Mmmm... my favorite summer spread. On fresh bread with a glass of cold milk. Heaven.

Great house on the market

My friend Cecilie over at Happymeat made me aware of this stunning house on sale in Porsgrunn. Viewings tomorrow. Maybe we should move...? Noooo, I don't think so. But this looks great to me. And for that price - you'd only get a regular 2 bedroom flat in Oslo. (Or a very tiny cabin on one of the islands in the Oslo fjord.)

Graveren Norge

These are another fleemarket find. From Graveren, Norway. They are hand painted and numbered. The black colour has a silver tint. Graveren was one of the many potteries in Rogaland (west coast). Others are Egersund, Stavangerflint and Figgjo Flint. I think they were all located in that area because the local clay was of particularly good quality.

Small Inger Waage dish

I scored this cute hand painted dish by Inger Waage for Stavangerflint for kr 5 ($1) at a flee market on Saturday. I think it is actually a tobacco pipe stand from the 1950s.

Grete Prytz item rescue

It's been a whole week since my last post.. Sorry, folks! But here's a little treat for your eyes: My Mum's Grete Prytz iron and enamel bowl from 1958 which was rescued from a cruel and horrible death (by trashing). It's now MINE and I will make sure it is re-homed properly, of course.

Second good news today: I've been offered a part-time job, starting in August :-) Hopefully, this will enable me to also get my crafting business on a steady footing. Bye-bye to the freelance situation!

Eskimo illustrations on ceramic tiles

I've been thrift-shopping again this morning. I returned home without a single cup or plate (!) but instead I found these illustrated tiles which I liked a lot. I guess they are from the 50's based on the illustration style and colors. They are signed 'Mika'.

My favorite is the one with the dog sled on it. (I've been dog sledding once and it was fantastic). These have probably been used as coasters, as someone has glued cork to the back of them. I think I'll just put them on display.

Vintage interiors

If you happened to read my previous two posts, you know that I went on a trip last weekend. We stayed in this old house where the interiors are rather... how shall I put it..? Let's just say it could do with an upgrade! There are some great patterned wallpapers (probably from the early 70s) and other quirky details in there that I hope will be kept to some degree, but otherwise the house is in desperate need of some paint and re-upholstery. I'm sure it will look great one day.

The bottom picture is from the hallway by the staircase. This is recently renovated to bring out the stain glass windows which I love. Keep up the good work, Turid!

Books by their cover II

I found these books in the house where we stayed over the weekend. The patterns are great. I'll be back with some photos of the house interiors later. (A bit busy at the moment).
